The mountain Gorilla Trekking regions of Bwindi include the Buhoma sector in the North, the Ruhija sector in the East, and the Rushaga and Nkuringo Sectors located on the southern side of Bwindi.

Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

The day will open up early morning at 6 am with an introduction and briefing from our company safari guide who will give you all the details involved in this trip. You will then start your drive to the deep south-western parts of Uganda as the journey is about 8-10 hours’ drive depending on the nature of the traffic jams in the Kampala capital city. 70km into this drive along the Masaka road you will make your first stopover for a photo session on the Equator Monument in Kayabwe.

While at the equator, you will have a picture moment showing how you crossed the world in the middle from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere. Right after this experience, we shall proceed to Mbarara town while crossing the dry plains of Lake Mburo National Park for a hot lunch stopover as well as refreshments.

Right after lunch, we shall continue with our journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park arriving late in the evening for dinner and relaxation as we prepare for the next day’s Mountain Gorilla Trekking excursion.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi's impenetrable Forest and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for Relaxation

Depending on the location of your lodge will determine at what time you will have breakfast. You will then head out to the park headquarters for a Gorilla trekking briefing, allocation of what gorilla family to trek as well as getting a porter, especially for those who face difficulty walking longer distances. Each Gorilla family is allocated a group of 8 individuals and accompanied by one guide as well as two armed rangers to protect to keep you safe as you walk through the forest.

Head out to the misty forest of Bwindi for gorilla trekking, a journey that goes for 2 – 8 hours of walking through bushes and thickets. Day 3: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi Back to Kampala/Entebbe

At sunrise, you will have breakfast and then go for an amazing boat trip on the numerous islands on this lake. Lake Bunyonyi has about 29 islands and each of these islands has a unique story that your local boat and site guide will help you interpret.

After the 1-hour boat trip, you will check out of your lodge and then head back to Entebbe or Kampala with lunch at the Famous Equator restaurant this will mark the end of our amazing 3 days at Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Uganda Safari.
