Arrive and take a short city tour in Kigali where you will visit places like the Kigali Memorial grounds, the former Presidential Palace museum, and the local markets among others. You will enjoy Rwanda's beautiful scenery such as the different hills, and the hygiene of the country which is free from rubbish and evergreen. After you will head to the hotel in the city of Kigali and this will be the end of day one.
On this day, you will be picked up from the hotel after breakfast and head to Goma the main town near Virunga National Park. While in Rwanda, you will witness the beauty of Rwanda and why it is called the land of a thousand hills. On arriving in Goma after crossing the border, you will take part in a city tour and this will depend on the arrival time.
Head to the park offices in Virunga and take part in mountain gorilla trekking after attending the briefing. Briefing is vital while in the park because it will grant you an opportunity to watch the gorillas smoothly without interruption. Among the briefing things that will be tackled are the dos and don'ts like no making noise and no feeding wild animals.
The ranger guide will help you to go into the forest to search for the endangered mountain gorillas. Locate them and spend a maximum of an hour while in their presence and this creates everlasting memories. After trekking out of the forest head to the lodge for your lunch as you prepare for another great day tomorrow.
Have breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters at the Kibati ranger post where hiking begins. This is a point where you are required to register in the book, join other fellow hikers, and acquire some potters and hiking sticks among others. You will then start the hike which will be done following the trail that will offer you the best scenery attractions like the vegetation, primates like Vervet, colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys among others. The hike will take about 5 to 6 hours but of rewarding even before reaching the summit. The summit offers the best of the boiling lava lake, spend a night at this point camping.
Have breakfast and then descend Mount. Nyiragongo which will take about 2 to 3 hours. You will then immediately transfer to Kahuzi-Biega - Biega national park a conservation destination known to host the low-land gorillas. Visiting this park will offer you the best experience where you will visit another sub-species of gorillas. This park is located near Bukavu town and the western border of Lake Kivu. You will arrive and check in at the pre-booked lodge.
On this day, you will head to the offices of the park and start the activity by attending a briefing which will be led by either the park ranger guide or park Warden. You will thereafter head into the forest to start the search for these unique gorilla species. Trekking will take about 2 to 3 hours but this will depend on where the gorillas are located. After a great encounter with the gorillas, you will head back to the lodge and this will be the end of the day.
Head back to Kigali and they fly back home on this day. This will be done after breakfast and lunch, the driver guide will wish you a safe journey, and therefore, you are invited to come back for another different African safari.
